Practical theology is the best sort of theology, perhaps the only worthwhile sort. There can be a danger that theology is just a past-time of no earthly, or even heavenly, use.

And YOU can always have bread and wine with me... i know that feeling cheated part...
I grew up Catholic... and when i switched to a Baptist based thing... i realized how much i miss that part... and once a month doesn't do it!
So... when we share meals with people and even on my own.... i take a min. and dip and sip... - your prodding is making me wonder why i stopped it daily... might have'ta go back to doing that! Love you girl.

Houston got it the worst, we are 2.5 hours away and more southern - the track of the hurricane is going North, so we are still awaiting some of the rains... and the wind is picking up here... but we still have power- yet we need some rain dearly... in this part... Austin is in huge drought.... so.... praying for the rains, without the other crap with it!

Again, great to meet you on the Youth Work Matters stand. I really did enjoy advising people on stuff but I had two people say they hadn't realised it was there and had missed seminars they would have gone too.

Interesting thoughts Dot. I'm not sure it's even really about being proud to be ... whatever ... We migay or may not be proud of our roots but it's more about recognising where we're from, how that's formed us, and resisting things which deny us the opportunity to do that.

88 is a pretty good age, but with my dad and both in-laws all in their 80's I know what you mean about the mixed feelings. They are all feeling their age and it obviously hurts.

Sounds like you have got a good placement, the ones we were sent on really expected us to know what we were doing when we got there, of course being St. Mike's they were supposed to show us or expect us to know, guess which one applied!!

So, Bible sunday, i'm off the lectern for that one. If I recall, that is the Sermon where we play 'spot the myth' as the preacher slowly destroys any faith left in the text!! ( I had a strange youth!) Oh and look out for the score cards at the end, especially if the warden has a wicked sense of humour...
